Re: 2026 Baseball Mega Thread
Count me among those who would like to see the tournament occasionally move to, say, Winston-Salem or Myrtle Beach. But one big reason the tournament is in Montgomery is something I hadn’t considered until one of our coaches pointed it out. That is, with the SEC Tournament in Hoover, Ala., scouts ca...

Re: Offseason thread: recruiting, transfer portal schedule, general discussion
On paper we’ve gone from one of the worst free throw shooting team in the country to one of the best.

Re: 2026 Baseball Mega Thread
I’m guessing Denton is our catcher of the future but he has to get better defensively.

Re: 2026 Baseball Mega Thread
Smith’s absence is a big part of it. Could really use another smart righthanded bat against their lefty.

Re: 2026 Baseball Mega Thread
Agree with everything you say, Slappy. The situation did not dictate aggressiveness. Britt 100 percent should have told Evans as soon as he got to third to freeze at third unless it’s a base hit. Otherwise, Evans’ first step should have been back to third. We’ll probably never know whose fault it wa...

Re: 2026 Baseball Mega Thread
Most of Nolan’s troubles were a result of his own poor defense. Gave up five runs on five hits with two walks in 1-plus innings on Sunday. During that stint he was late covering first on a ball hit to first and he showed little urgency (as well as momentary bobbles) on two bunts hit to him. All thre...

Re: 2026 Baseball Mega Thread
If the Sword of Damocles is hanging over the coaching staff’s heads, as Stonewall loves to constantly point out, that would be the dumbest thing Doug Gillin has ever done at App. Some of the folks Stonewall talks to may be that dumb but I don’t believe Gillin is one of them.

Re: 2026 Baseball Mega Thread
Agree with the Blackmon sentiment, but the fact that we’re 14th in the country in team batting average seems lost by some on this board.

Re: 2026 Baseball Mega Thread
Sat near a Mets scout last night. Peeked at his tracking device. Brasch consistently threw 95 and 96 mph. Need more committed at bats from Miller today. I can take an occasional wild swing on a slider but those way-too-frequent backward Ks are hard to stomach.

Re: 2026 Baseball Mega Thread
Let's win two today!! Let's Go App. St.!! I would love for the starters to earn up some innings today. I’m not an expert but I stayed at a Holiday Inn last night, but I’d consider starting Peterson in Game 1 since he is shown consistent ability to pitch deep into games and can pitch out of trouble....

Re: Offseason thread: recruiting, transfer portal schedule, general discussion
Let’s not get carried away with Vasser. He suffered a major injury and is still a ways away from competing at a high level. Not saying he won’t get there eventually but the preponderance of newcomers at his position suggests we aren’t counting on him early on.

Re: 2026 Baseball Mega Thread
One series at a time. With that said, our remaining schedule is against teams currently at the bottom of SBC. On paper, we have a chance to win more series and hopefully lock up at least 3rd in SBC. Let's keep rolling. We travel to Troy on May 1-3. Troy is ranked No. 60 in RPI and one of the teams ...

Re: Offseason thread: recruiting, transfer portal schedule, general discussion
We’re seeing a noticeable uptick in baseball attendance this season, fueled almost completely by students. Alcohol sales, it seems, have increased dramatically, too.

Re: 2026 Baseball Mega Thread
Marshall is probably one of the better teams in the conference. The Herd gave Coastal two extremely competitive games, albeit in a three-game sweep. Our schedule certainly gets easier now that Coastal and Southern Miss are behind us, but we’ll need to play our best to work our way toward the upper h...

Re: 2026 Baseball Mega Thread
Another not-so smart play by the Apps. Don’t bunt with two outs and a runner in scoring position.
