Re: Offseason thread: recruiting, transfer portal schedule, general discussion
Solid, yes. But it was Asheville area basketball, nowhere near the level of bball comp you see in Charlotte, the triad, etc. For comparison, the other player in the same high school league who was his size played at D3 Roanoke College this year and averaged 3 ppg. He was 2 time conference player of ...

Re: Offseason thread: recruiting, transfer portal schedule, general discussion
This is what I have so far. If we can get one big that warrants 10-15 minutes a game, think we will be in good shape. We have good rebounders in Moodie, Neal, Chaney and Litch. Returning: PG Vasser 6'0 30% from three SG Banks 6'3 PF Njock 6'6 SF/PF Neal 6'7 C Moodie 6'8 New: PG Allen 6'5 PG Kopetsk...

Re: Offseason thread: recruiting, transfer portal schedule, general discussion
Wilson, Marcus, Clarke, Brim and McKinnon are all gone. Looks like Banks, Moodie, Njock, Vasser and Neal all returning (I think). Adding PG Kopetski (21ppg and 38% from 3, 88% FT), SG Chaney (15ppg, 9.4 rpg, 75% FT), and CG Costello (8.2ppg, 32.5% from 3 and 84.4% FT). Also, Freshman PG Jonathan Mo...

Re: Offseason thread: recruiting, transfer portal schedule, general discussion
Kerns has been good for us, but I’d think Charleston could get someone who’s been even more successful at a lower level program or someone who has been let go from a bigger program, but has experienced success at that level. That’s what they did for the last 2 hires (Kelsey and Mack). I wonder if Hu...

Re: 4 year schools compared in new analysis
I recently saw a list of NC colleges that shows current freshman statistics. App was 5th in NC behind UNC, Duke, NC State, and UNCC for number of applications received. Surprisingly, WCU and Wingate were 7th and 8th on the list for number of applications. If accurate, several NC public schools have ...

Re: 4 year schools compared in new analysis
When did our selectivity decrease so much much? 85% or so applicants are admitted? Maybe that reflects lots of applicants who can get accepted to other schools and never attend App if they get into other first choice schools. Or has an increased enrollment push decreased our selectivity?

Re: Sun Belt Tournament 2026
Honestly asking, why do we care? I'm watching the SoCon tourney... Did I wake up in 2011… who cares about the SoCon tournament. It’s a thousand times better conference tourney than ours for one In terms of the atmosphere at the tournament final, it was no comparison. The place was packed and loud. ...

Re: Sun Belt Tournament 2026
A common denominator for the teams playing in the championship…. They are two of the teams that App beat easily during the regular season. Momentum is crucial during March. Hopefully we can find it at the right time in the near future.

Re: Sun Belt Tournament 2026
A Deeper Than Hate conference championship game would be perfect. As much as it pains me to say it, Ga Southern was the lower seed that I thought had the best chance to make a run. They ended up knocking down threes to beat USA’s zone and they have handled Marshall twice this year. They would be co...

Re: MBB @ TXSt 02/27/26
It's interesting that we have the best scoring defense and average margin of victory by a good amount in the conference, but our 3pt% defense is #7, steals ranks #13, and blocks are #8. We're not doing anything flashy... Just solid in fg% defense at #2 and rebounding margin at #2. The pack line def...

Re: MBB vs Marsha 2/19 6:30pm
Don't think we will be losing Kerns anytime soon. Nope. This is why he’s still a mid major coach. Nothing wrong with it, but just have to expect things like this to happen on a regular basis. He might make a "lateral move" to a better basketball market / school, and try to step up from there if tha...

Re: 26 Bracketology
I attend some of the socon tournament almost every year. In my view the socon sometimes has teams at the top of their league that can compete with and/or are better than the best of the belt, but the sun belt always seems to have more parity from top to bottom.

Re: MBB vs S. Alabama 2/4 6:30 PM
Patience on offense, skip passes to wings. If threes aren’t falling utilize Marcus and Wilson in the high and low post with some post to post action against the zone. We have the personnel with Dodd and Jennings ability to penetrate and kick and the bigs to run some overload action. Troy tried zone ...

Re: MBB @ Troy 4:30 pm 1/31
All without two players who apparently would have been in the regular rotation. Vasser and Neal? I was hearing good things about Neal preseason. What's up with him? Yes, those two. No idea about Neal - he’s a mystery. Still listed on official roster, but no picture. I know he was in photos with the...

Re: MBB @ Troy 4:30 pm 1/31
It's hard to overestimate the amount of credit DK and his staff deserve for the results this season. The mass exodus last spring, starting from scratch with virtually all new players, getting them to buy into "take the stairs" and his system, building chemistry, learning from mistakes as the season...

Re: MBB @ Troy 4:30 pm 1/31
I’ve been the least complimentary person of Kerns. However, it does appear this team is playing better. I am cautiously optimistic because for decades I have been to this point many times only to see the team fall flat on their face. I will say : if they continue to play at this level , we can win ...

Re: 1/17 - MBB ODU @ App 1pm
Dodd absolutely has improved. Been one of our best players. We’re essentially running a 7 man rotation now as it seems Clarke Njock and Brim are out of the rotation. Hopefully we don’t get worn out down the stretch. Great 2nd half effort but we were asleep in all facets the 1st half. As of now, Ban...
