Re: Luke Combs
BTW, Luke just had a concert at Oklahoma that raised $1.5 million for their NIL fund. Same thing at Tennessee earlier in the week. What is the goal for App with John Pardi? Luke at $1.5 - are we looking at $150,000 - Money is Money but I don't see this concert pulling in much unless we let people c...

The announcement hit a Flat note in town - marketing will cost more than anticipated for this one.

Re: Sun Belt Schedule Release Date
Gladys Knight and Rick Springfield will be headlining two concerts “An Appalachian Summer 2026.” And since both are popular entertainers, I suppose we can surmise that Athletics had nothing to do with booking them. On a more serious note, I wonder why Athletics doesn’t try to book Rainbow Kitten Su...

Re: Offseason thread: recruiting, transfer portal schedule, general discussion
That one stings. We rarely can hang onto Freshman guards. Once they get here, they see the system, and then leave. He only played 1-3 minutes per game - so very weird - maybe he was not patient enough to take his turn next year, maybe there was something else going on. I personally expected this as...

Re: Offseason thread: recruiting, transfer portal schedule, general discussion
Tis the sad one. https://twitter.com/WestonScambler/status/2039043844931473456?s=20 Hard to imagine how Kerns feels deep down about this - Kerns literally took a football player with a football body that wanted to play basketball, had some skill and turned him into what he is now. This one has to c...

Re: Offseason thread: recruiting, transfer portal schedule, general discussion
College of Charleston NIL is in the $2M-$3M range. That alone is enough to make him want the gig. Big dog on campus with no football. CofC and HPU 2 of the best mid major jobs to get. Does CofC go after Matt McMahon if he were to need a new job - several dominos, but would Matt be ahead of Kerns fo...

Re: MBB @ JMU 2/14 4pm
Kerns has done a great job of developing guys that stick around. Look at the progression of Luke, Marcus and Dodd. If Banks and Brim stick around, I expect them to have more of an impact next season. Same with Moodie and Vasser. I have no inside knowledge but it’s hard to imagine that Luke will sta...

Re: MBB vs Marsha 2/19 6:30pm
I'm not saying he won't leave for another job, but I have it on a trusted source that he and his family love Boone and he wants to build something at App. I don't know that he will leave for a lateral job, but it would be irresponsible of him not to at least entertain options, if not for the sole p...

Re: MBB vs Marsha 2/19 6:30pm
Don't think we will be losing Kerns anytime soon. Nope. This is why he’s still a mid major coach. Nothing wrong with it, but just have to expect things like this to happen on a regular basis. He might make a "lateral move" to a better basketball market / school, and try to step up from there if tha...

Re: MBB vs Eastern Michigan 2/7 1pm est
Seems like most of our ugly games have been at home and a lot of good wins have been on the road (Citing the most recent road trips). I know our shooting has been pretty bad at home in different areas in many games, which seems backwards.

Re: Boone Area Chamber of Commerce Award
My take - App needs to drop 1,000 students from the Boone Campus immediately. Apparently its 18,000 for Boone with the remainder being online and hickory? No matter the number App needs to be tougher on getting in rates and drop some students - the town is not handling the amount of students well. T...

Re: MBB vs S. Alabama 2/4 6:30 PM
Question for all: Do you like or dislike having a semi-meaningless non conference game at this point in the season? The early season MAC - SBC challenge games make sense. Not sure about the late season ones especially if you have to travel. Kind of pointless this late in season in general early sea...

Re: Boone Area Chamber of Commerce Award
Given how much good is done by Samaritan's Purse around the world, I find it odd that they are not a past winner. I hope the Boone community appreciates the reach of Samaritan's Purse and all they good work they do serving hurting people everywhere. Would they be considered a "business" since I ass...

Re: MBB @ Southern Miss 1/29 8pm
It looks like the Mountaineers are hitting their stride at just about the perfect time in the season. This year has been so up-and-down, though, that it makes it hard not to be defeatist. Like, yeah, we've got a good little win streak going, but Troy and South Alabama coming up might be the other s...
