Re: 2026 Baseball Mega Thread

Wonder how the high schoolers through Sophomores are thinking about being the 30th guy on a roster at an SEC school versus starter at an SBC school?

If the SEC starts spending $100k on their 30th guy I doubt we see a Southern Miss hosting a regional again.

Re: 2026 Baseball Mega Thread

Would be great to get a couple into the Super Regionals.

USM best chance with CCU and ULL next I'd assume.

Re: 2026 Baseball Mega Thread

Did anyone really believe we have the arm to be competitive in a tournament scenario.

Still a chance to make noise tomorrow, but stepping back 30 wins looked like a tall task before the season.

We finished 3rd in the 5th best conference in the nation and probably had 6-7th place talent.

Yes, it opened Pandora's box and those making the rules to implement the ruling did so to their benefit. Tale as old as time.

Re: 2026 Team Previews

What percentage of being the Head Coach is football between the lines and August-December vs. the offseason work? Wilks would no doubt get 100% of each player from August - December and spring training.

Still pulling for Loggins to kill it this year and get hired away so we can use that buyout $.

English teacher, hmmm. Logic was sound, I mentioned your point in my post and a better way of how the money should have been utilized. In addition the results are proof, when did the inflection point occur? When the coaches got paid, when the stadium were upgraded, or when the players of certain pr...

Re: 2026 Team Previews

6-5 against programs that are peers or have less resources isn’t a successful season. It’s really 5-6 as Maine is FCS but your point stands and I agree. Especially when we increased the budget of the 2024 5-6 campaign. No, 6-5 for peers or lower resources programs, FCS schools are included in the l...

App was 4-2 when running more than 35 times, and 1-7 when it didn’t.

Biggest Concern - The run defense.

5-7 prediction.

Going to the bar if you need me.

He sold out BoA in CLT a couple of weeks ago, great show. That was a special circumstance. Google says Zach Bryan performed at Marshall University's Joan C. Edwards Stadium on August 30, 2025, because of his love for West Virginia, a desire to play a unique stadium show requested by his team, and a ...

I increased my giving as promised when we moved up. Substantially. I won’t give to a new IAA football effort. Might designate to another sport or take more vacations. We are 1-AA already. The only thing missing is the jersey patch and the playoff. The substance of NIL vs. the form has created two d...

Re: G6 Playoff

Our odds of making the CFP remain the same (for now), the postseason shifts from one bowl game (hopefully this year) vs. a G6 opponents to 2-3 games vs. the best G6 teams that season.

Re: G6 Playoff

Division I-AA sequel. Yup. We moved up just to be in the second tier. I heard some of our experienced fans say that we would have to move up to be in the second tier way back in the 90s and early 2000s. It made sense. This was something the stay FCS crowd never grasped, it was a frustrating discuss...
