Re: 2026 Baseball Mega Thread
Watching Southern Miss host a regional with a huge crowd makes me sad / jealous. That would be awesome.

Re: 2026 Baseball Mega Thread
I know all teams deal with stars transferring or going pro, but imagine if we had Steensma this year. That would have given us a great weekend rotation to go along with our great hitting.

Re: 2026 Baseball Mega Thread
This baseball season felt like the basketball season. We overachieved and had great seasons in both, but the ending left a sour taste. We had the most runs in the conference and pitching improved compared to the last couple years. We just didn't hit well the last couple weeks. A few achievements: 30...

Re: 2026 Baseball Mega Thread
I hope we can do that, but I don't think it's realistic to say we SHOULD be beating those guys regularly. In 2024 we beat Coastal 3 of 4 games and the single loss was in extra innings. Doing that regularly would be a miracle. I think Coastal spends 3 times as much as us, and we all know the recruiti...

Re: 2026 Baseball Mega Thread
I am glad we finished 3rd in SBC. But you want to compare yourself to winners. In last 10 games, USM - 9-1 CCU - 4-6 App - 4-6 We have to figure out to finish the season if we want to be relevant in the playoffs. Technically, you just showed we're on par with a former national champion (and last ye...

Re: 2026 Baseball Mega Thread
Not trying to find excuses to say it's ok. I'm trying to understand if we're in a slump that'll likely carry into the tournament, or if there were external factors that suggest we'll be hitting well again in the tournament.

Re: 2026 Baseball Mega Thread
Our pitchers only allowed 9 total runs in the three GSU games so they weren't the problem. Our bats went from averaging 10+ runs per game to 2 in each of our losses against one of the worst pitching teams in the SBC. And we averaged 3.5 runs per game in our two losses to UL. I wonder if no midweek ...

Re: 2026 Baseball Mega Thread
It does worry me that we didn't finish strong, but we were just one run away from winning the series vs UL (RPI of 40) and 3 runs away from sweeping GSU. You also have to consider we didn't have much to play for in the last couple games and GSU was fighting for a tournament spot.

17 conference wins is the most ever in the Sun Belt and we have at least 4 more to play!

Re: Luke Combs
The biggest aspect of it all is the fact that Appalachian is in the smallest market of all the Sunbelt Conference Schools. We cannot do anything about our market share. In reality the metric that gets looked at is the size of the city in which you are located. UNCC is the only school in North Carol...

Re: 2026 Baseball Mega Thread
Looks like Texas State has the tiebreaker over us since they beat Coastal once and we didn't. If we end up tied with Texas State and other teams, it gets messy because the tiebreaker comes down to record vs the group. Hopefully none of this matters since we won't get swept by Georgia State

Re: 2026 Baseball Mega Thread
Good news is that USA lost, so we remain in third. More important, the right combo of wins and losses happened today so App State is all-but locked into the Top Six and avoids the play-in round (tiebreaker versus Marshall and ULM). Now to get the bats right in whatever suburb of Atlanta GSU plays i...

Yeah, I saw him after his first album came out with several other newer artists at 96.9's Kat Country for $9.69 so $100 is hard to swallow

Re: G6 Playoff
So the proposal is for a G6 playoff... that doesn't even include the best G6 team. So no one could credibly call the winner the G6 national champion, if there were such a thing. Real worst-of-both-worlds solution. I agree that "G6 runner up" would be an odd tournament and title. But if you look bac...

Re: 2026 Baseball Mega Thread
Hopefully we can finish in the #2 spot. But, it's looking like just winning 1 of our last 6 games will secure a top 6 seed to avoid the single elimination play-in round. Of course, losing 5 of our last 6 wouldn't give me much confidence in the tournament, regardless of our seed  Arkansas State ...
