Could ACC be snubbed and SBC get in CFP?

Say Duke beats UVA and both JMU and Tulane win big in their title games. Could 2 G6 teams get in the playoff and ACC be left out? I would think so.

Just stopped by to say that JCline would be proud of this clickbait thread.

Probably not. The 5 highest ranked conference champs get auto bids. So assuming Tulane wins they would get 5th bid. That in my opinion opens door up for a Vandy, Texas, Utah or any other top 25 2-3 loss non conference champ. But stranger things have happened.

Honestly don’t think either should make it.

Miami should be the ACC rep.

Duke is 7-5 and lost to 2 G5 teams.
If UVA beats Duke, cool…you beat an average team.
ACC might be worse than the American this year.

This is probably the last season or two of the “Top 5 conference champions”.

I remember saying, what happened when the ACC has a 5 loss winner a few years back.

Agree that Miami should get a bid if an ACC is required to get a bid. UVA had a relatively easy nonconference schedule. Miami played ND and Florida (even if a down year fur Florida)

They won’t be the ACC champ. It says 5 highest rated conference champs. Miami could get at-large though.

UVA is much better than you are giving them credit for and all they can do is play the teams on their schedule.

They aren’t going to put two G5 schools in. They hasn’t been projected by anyone anywhere

No league is required to get a bid. 5 highest ranked conference champs get auto-bid. Miami would not be the champ. If Duke wins it would open the door for this to happen if JMU is ranked.

So winning the conference should take a backseat to Miami beating notre dame in September?

Of course nobody is projecting this to happen but if Duke wins it opens the door for this to be possible. I think JMU enters the top 25 this week and don’t believe a MWC team will. When they made the rules they never thought an unranked ACC team would be the champ but that is possible right now.

I think UVA wins as well but what if they don’t? Who will be the 5 highest ranked conference champions then?

I’m not betting that Duke will beat UVA. I’m just saying if the upset happens, and upsets do happen, who do think would be the 5 highest ranked conference champions?

Exactly. I want Duke to win to see what happens. Would be nice to benefit financially from it. It will be interesting to see if JMU is finally ranked by CFP this week.

I misunderstood. Doesn’t it all come down to them ranking jmu?
