Oh man that really sucks. I remember going there and getting some really great pizza after the spring game last year.

Two years ago, I took my bride there to celebrate her birthday. We ordered the prosciutto-wrapped figs, and she mentioned to our server how much she loved them. A few minutes later, the manager appeared at our table with a copy of the recipe for us. An amazing place and great people, we are so sad about this.

Asked my now wife to date me at Bistro Roca. Will hold a special place in our hearts.

Just went there for dinner in September. We were in Blowing Rock for our 20th anniversary weekend.

RIP. So many memories for so many App State students. Antlers was the oldest continually serving bar in North Carolina. There isn't much left from the old days.

I enjoyed many a cold pitcher there on the weekends. I also ended up challenging my guardian angel's skills while driving back to campus especially on the snowy nights when the road was white. RIP Antlers

In May 2025, this is where we celebrated our our daughter graduating from The App. St. University... following her parents that had previously graduated from The App. St. University.

Noted in an article that the owners plan to rebuild. Hope this is true and they can make it happen.

I hope they can do a temp site at the old canyons location, then rebuild and then have 2 locations. The ownership of the old canyons site it horrible but hopefully there is a chance for a temp location.

Amazing views at Canyons, a shame that isn't a sustainable location for whatever reason.

Agreed, some place locations just cannot make it. Another one that perplexes me is that a restaurant cannot consistently make it there.. the old Hardee's by the Holmes Center... Great location next to campus.

The Hardee’s near Holmes is actually being redeveloped.

scatman, you know that when you didn’t trust your guardian angel you took the curvy backroad from Trout Lake through the maze back to campus to avoid the cops on 321. Unless you were scared of bears and whatever creatures were in them hills.😜

had a jeep my senior year, used to load it up with some gals and go down that road....it was always creepy at night, especially around the old log mill

I wonder how many would show up if some of you guys put together a “Antlers reunion/memorial” gathering.

I got this. Great views and potentially good venue. But you have to drive to it. More importantly you have to drive back from it. Most people staying in Blowing Rock are there for the walkability. And how many people are gonna drive there from Boone regularly? I was in Boone 5 years and went 2-3 times when it was Emporium

True, but that's kind of the point. After the Hardees that had been there for decades became unprofitable, nothing has survived in that prime location.

You had to go to Blowing Rock in 70's,Boone was dry,but beer was legal at 18.Canyons was Hollys, and mostly Lee's McRae students at it.Many drives back from BR,on parkway or bass lake.
