The difference between this off-season and past ones is that in the pst, Iโve used the offseason to get excited about the next one. This year is more of getting mentally prepared.BambooRdApp wrote: โMon Mar 23, 2026 9:22 amEvery year. Like groundhog day. They are fun reads though

I still get excited. Now that could change 4 games into the season.AppSt94 wrote: โMon Mar 23, 2026 9:23 amThe difference between this off-season and past ones is that in the pst, Iโve used the offseason to get excited about the next one. Re: FBS to be split- Now we know why schools paid heavy prices to move up
I'm excited about competing against our peers, but no longer have hopes for being competitive beyond that.
Probably make 3-4 home games when my kids aren't playing sports, have some good tailgates. Might make the CCU away and hopefully the bowl if schedules align.
In years past with this schedule I would have made 9 games, 10 with a bowl.
Once the kids graduate I may get back to the 6-8 games a year pace, but four more years of this trend (CFB, not just App specific) and it may remain at the 4-5 level.

I feel much the same. Thats why ive beat the drum of "just win the conference" for years now as others had delusions of NY6 bowls and Boise state comparisons.Saint3333 wrote: โMon Mar 23, 2026 9:46 amI'm excited about competing against our peers, but no longer have hopes for being competitive beyond that.

I dont get to attend but a few games here and there anymore. The atmosphere is still fantastic when im there. I do miss duck pond field and stadium lot for tailgating.

When is the last time anyone here referred to Appโs โbrandโ? Went from overboard to nearly nothing- why is that? Are we moving back to nationally irrelevant?

Whoever rates those things still had our value atop the Sunbelt the last time I heard it discussed. That was before the CFP .

Itโs worth remembering that this board is the vocal minority. In sales, itโs a fact that 80% of your headaches will come from 20% of your clients. Theyโll be the ones raising a stink about every little detail. When 35,000 fill Kidd Brewer 6 Saturdays a year, only about 25 of them have ever complained about athletic department debt payoff amortization schedules. The rest pay their money and enjoy themselves instead of getting bent out of shape and trying to ruin everyone elseโs good time.

You're 100% correct. Thats why I'm not standing at the gates to The Rock on a soapbox. Instead, I made the comments about funding in the proper forum, aka this one. Goodness, bent out of shape? More sensationalism, and this time from an actual media member. All I've done is bring up facts that were reported in an official document, and I made comments that I worry about the mounting debt. If you ever get tired of radio, I'm sure CNN or Fox could use another sensationalist journalist to make false implications and blow things out of proportion.APPdiesel wrote: โMon Mar 23, 2026 1:53 pmItโs worth remembering that this board is the vocal minority. Goodness, what's up with y'all right now? Getting your panties all up in a wad just because I was wondering about our athletic debts. I miss the days when I could post some questions and concerns like that, and someone would post actual answers.

In sales, 80% of your opportunities come from 20% of your clientsโฆ. Objections are opportunities and lead to bigger things.APPdiesel wrote: โMon Mar 23, 2026 1:53 pmItโs worth remembering that this board is the vocal minority. Why would they do that when we are here solely to be poached. In terms of athletics, we are four-year JuCos now.APPdiesel wrote: โSun Mar 22, 2026 10:00 amMy 3 concerns if this does in fact happenโฆ
1. Can App afford to spend enough to be competitive against the top G5 programs?
2. Will ESPN as the rights holders promote it as its own entity or just use it as a way to market the P4 league?
3. Will whoever runs it, whether itโs NCAA or a new standalone entity, be able to apply any kind of protections at all against unmitigated P4 poaching.

Because the alternative is a massive lawsuit from the 6 non-autonomous conferences. Not saying itโs a strong enough case to force their hand, but itโd be the card they should play.

Imagine filing a lawsuit against an entity that has and will determine what amount of scraps you receive.
This is 1-AA all over again, there will be promises made and a slippery slope that erodes them. And we have no leverage to make a material impact on the outcome, maybe slow it down at most.
This is like Albania negotiating with NATO, yeah they're one of 32 members, but have no say on any matter.

Re: FBS to be split- Now we know why schools paid heavy prices to move up
Wrong thread but the Luke Combs scenario of enforceable contracts with buyout clauses solves a lot of issues. I'd suggest up to 75% of the contract paid into an escrow account to be forfeited if the contract is broken. If a P6 wants the player bad enough, they buy out the escrow too, which funds the replacement.
