This is what happens when you can’t bunt.
Should be 10-3 or 11-2 but left with 7-5.

Just another loss is what has been another down year in sports. Used to it.

Why on earth did we put in another pitcher with the bases loaded? My son and I were watching. It was nearly a 100% certainty that there would be either:

Wild pitch
HBP
Walk

And it happened. In that situation stick with the guy who was already pitching. Stupid

Just got back from the game. Most entertaining game we’ve played in years. Coach Smith managed his butt off, bunts notwithstanding. Outhit a nationally ranked team. Saw some very encouraging things from our pitching staff. Great team resilience after getting down 7-1 early. And the crowd was electric from the first pitch to Zamora’s game-deciding bloop out. Good things ahead for this team.

Law of averages has to swing in their favor - right?

What were the odds of that happening if we had stuck with the guy who had just walked 2 straight to load the bases? If they had left him in and he walked a 3rd straight you'd be here saying "why on earth didn't we put in another pitcher?" Made the right decision and it didn't work out.

WCU with another nice win against UGA after already beating Troy and ECU. Wonder if the weather and money is that much better in Cullowhee? Why not App?

We had to make a change. If anything I wish we would have done it one batter earlier so we weren't putting a new arm in with the bases loaded.

Traditionally they have a average to good program - they have had a few lean years but for the most part they are pretty solid squad. They have about the same budget (App has a slightly higher budget). Just this year they have a few more quality wins (the last 3 have been impressive). It's close to 10 degrees warmer and less precip there most times as well.

* I want to see the head to head record
84-54 them - Yikes.

Careful, questioning the excuses about weather, elevation, and others in our region finding regular success while we struggle is not allowed here.

Ok? So then whats the difference between the programs then? The temp is about 8-10 degrees warmer on average and less snow by 5 inches in Feb.
6 inch difference in Jan

APP spends more by $300,000 at 1.3 ish *EDIT.* 1.435 mill is spent
WCU at just under a million

Agreed. JJ has not been in that position in his career-tough spot for him. Probably lingered one or two batters too long.

This is really telling. That's a big sway towards Western.
Talk about being on an island location wise, cold and some elevation.
A SoCon team outperforming us and we have SunBelt (albeit weak Sunbelt) money. Wonder what the record is since we went SunBelt vs them? Feel like we've won a few recently.
Would we have the largest budget for current SoCon teams?
I'm not confident we would win the SoCon.

You’re absolutely right. Again I’m just going through the comparisons of both programs. I guess I should have elaborated more. This year WCU has three quality wins right now against some pretty good competition. I don’t think it happens often but because they’re not too far away and we i’ve seen what has happened so far in the last couple games it stands out a little more right now. As I said before, most of these non-P4 teams in the area, have enough talent to beat some of the better teams. It hasn’t happened for APP so far but it can.

The more we play P4 teams the better chance we have.

We need to schedule them more.

Canisius for 3
Queens/A&T/A&T for 3
G Webb for 3
Presby for 3.

It’s been a while since we’ve beaten a legit p4 team. Lack of opportunity and we usually play midweeks v them with our “bullpen day” arms.
