Sun Belt Tournament 2026

Belmont, after going like 25-4, loses their first tournament game in the OVC. This is why our bracket is the way it is.

Belmont lost by 30 to a 14-19 team. They had no business losing like that to that team. The conference should not protect teams who are going to get crushed by a team they arent supposed to. No one has such a ridiculous bracket like the sun belt. We can agree to disagree on that. But to suggest conferences shouldn’t have their good teams participate in said conference tourney because they may lose is so weak

Big question for me is do the extra days of rest help our boys because of lack of depth or do we come out cold from the time off. We shall see.

9 times out of 10, time off hurts. Biggest example being the 2023-24 season. This year, we needed all the rest we could get. Hopefully, the rest pays off.

Southern Miss wins again! Like this matchup a lot more than Texas State.

However, Tylik Weeks is a matchup nightmare. 6'7 225 point forward who is playing much more confidently than when we played them in January.

In his last 7 games, he is averaging 26.7 PPG, 4.1 RPG, 3.7 APG. Southern Miss is undefeated in games when he scores 26+ points. I’d expect it’ll be defending by committee tomorrow night.

Apparently the Sun Belt's not alone. Several other conferences are using a similar format.

The team's that have played v. rested teams are 4-2. Let's hope that trend ends tonight.
