Exactly! South Alabama just beat Troy. With a win against Texas State, we secure a Top 2 seed. They are 15-1 at home this year and have been the hottest SBC team as of late. However, they struggled in an OT win against USA and lost today at ULL. I like our chances.T-Dog wrote: ↑Sat Feb 21, 2026 5:49 pmIf we get a Top 2 seed, we'll have just 1 game in the next 13 days.AppGrad20 wrote: ↑Sat Feb 21, 2026 4:30 pm
Noticed this too. Great leadership by Dodd and Jennings. Outside of the Southern away game, he’s looked a step off all month. Love his game when he is on.
Hopefully he just needs rest. It’s very apparent Dodd needs it too. Might be one of the rare occasions where having an extended break between the regular season and conference tourney is beneficial.

We are now in first place for the third separate time in the last week.
First place Sun Belt teams went 0-5 in the last week.

This last week has been crazy. Seems all the contenders for the regular season title have lost at least once.

Win at Texas State on Friday and regardless of what happens elsewhere, I believe App State is Top 2 and gets the quintuple bye to the semis.
Lose, and App could fall as far as 6th, I believe.

Re: MBB vs Stink 2/21 1pm
I would say that we have the toughest road to the #1 seed but the way this week has played out it's anybody's guess as to who finishes #1. Given that there is no more play between the top, there could very easily be a four way tie for first. We hold the tiebreak against Troy & SALA but Marshall versus us. But I'm not sure how that factors with the other two.

Re: MBB vs Stink 2/21 1pm
I believe if the top 4 win out, it’d be Marshall, App, Troy and then S Alabama. Marshall is 3-1 against the 4, App and Troy are 2-2, but we have head to head, S Alabama is 1-3. That may not be how it is done though. Agree that we have the toughest team to play, but we only have to win 1 more where everyone else has to win 2. If we lose and there is a 5 way tie, I think Texas St would go to the top and everyone else gets pushed down one.hapapp wrote: ↑Sat Feb 21, 2026 7:16 pmI would say that we have the toughest road to the #1 seed but the way this week has played out it's anybody's guess as to who finishes #1. No telling what will happen this coming week, but at least the final stretch will be interesting.

Re: MBB vs Stink 2/21 1pm
just curious...if we beat tex st....and end up maybe sharing the regular season title....but lose out in the conference tournament....what kind of shot do we have at getting an NIT bid? I think thats a great tourny and would love to make some noise in it....ncaa tourny of couse would be awesome...also, is the CIT, CBI, and those other lesser tournaments still a thing?

Re: MBB vs Stink 2/21 1pm
Texas State has beaten S Alabama twice and also beaten Troy and Marshall once. They did lose one to Troy. They are 4-1 against the top 4 teams and 15-1 at home. I’m glad we have a whole week to prepare, but they do also.

I thought NIT usually chooses 1st place reg season if they don’t win conf tourney. Not sure if that’s still true or not.ncman071 wrote: ↑Sat Feb 21, 2026 10:00 pmjust curious...if we beat tex st....and end up maybe sharing the regular season title....but lose out in the conference tournament....what kind of shot do we have at getting an NIT bid? Re: MBB vs Stink 2/21 1pm
NotNothing has a really good scenario breakdown tool: https://bball.notnothing.net/bracket_cl ... f=sunbeltm
Win Out / All Things Even = #2 Seed Playing South Alabama or Worse
Win Out + Marshall Loss = #1 Seed Playing Marshall or Worse
Technically there are some scenarios where App can still get #2 with a loss, but not worth mentioning. Best case probably looks like a #1 seed playing Troy. Marshall has been lights out offensively lately and Troy is 3-5 in their last eight games.

I'll take the No. 1 seed 8 days a week and twice on Sunday and see how it plays out. If that means playing Marsha, so be it.

Re: MBB vs Stink 2/21 1pm
2025 NIT selection process
2025 NIT features a 32-team field for non-NCAA Tournament teams, utilizing a mix of 16 "exempt" automatic bids, regular-season champion automatic bids, and at-large selections based on high-level metrics (BPI, KPI, NET, KenPom, SOR, Torvik, WAB). Key changes for 2025 guarantee spots to the top two teams from the ACC/SEC, top teams from the top 12 conferences, and first-round hosting rights for these exempt teams.
Top 12 conferences (via KenPom ratings):
The 12 highest-rated conferences receive one exempt bid each. Within each of those conferences, the team with the best average of the designated metrics receives the bid and may host a first-round game.
The ACC and SEC may also appear in this top-12 group; if so, their two exempt teams are determined before assigning these conference-based bids
