It looks like the Mountaineers are hitting their stride at just about the perfect time in the season. This year has been so up-and-down, though, that it makes it hard not to be defeatist. Like, yeah, we've got a good little win streak going, but Troy and South Alabama coming up might be the other shoe dropping.

Someone convince me I'm wrong.
with a full roster turnover, you almost have to expect the up and down and gelling at the end of the season as the group of guys develops into a team. Sounds almost like good coaching. It's a pattern too which makes me think it's intentional.

Kerns has trimmed the roster playing size down in the new year - Njock is getting zero minutes and Jason Clark Jr. is getting zero minutes - Both were playing decent minutes before January and Brimm goes in once a game for 2 minutes. Maybe there is some academic issues or something with those guys, but very strange or maybe he realized the large rotation wasn't working the way he had planned. I would say Kerns is probably getting what he can out of the team, not long ago we were beating Auburn and sniffing at the top 25 but there was another team ahead of us in purple and the league was strong. Now this season all the teams are bunched up mess of 50/50 teams. Will be interesting if we are in our "prime" for the season and what that ends up looking like going into march.

Hard to be optimistic. Up then down up down up down. Been this way forever! It sure is ugly either way!

Consistency has been the big issue. We can beat good teams and we can lose to bad teams.

If someone has academic issues, discipline issues, whatever,...would they be dressing out for games?..why even assume something of that nature.
As with most coaches, they tend to trim the rotation after a few games in conference play. Most teams have around 8 man rotation with some having 10. I think Tots emergence has led to Clarke not getting minutes as Banks was going to get minutes when he returned from injury as he is a better defender. For the others, they are not ready to be in the rotation and it was evident in their play from what I have viewed this season.
Hopefully, we can keep winning. When Wilson went out, I was a little worried. Fortunately, So. Miss did not have a tough big man inside.

I don't think losing 1 or both of our next two games suggests we've flopped after winning three in a row. We beat 3 of the worst teams in conference and now play the top 2 teams. I'm hoping we win at least 1 of 2.

At least one of the players mentioned above is not quick enough to play defense on a 6'5" guy and too small to play down low. He will have to get quicker to play for Kerns.

We really need to finish in the top 4. Our short rotation will hurt in the SunBelt tournament if we have to play 4 games to win. (mainly thinking about Dodd) We Click when Dobbs is on the floor. From my viewpoint, Banks is our second best point guard....Tot gets too excited to play point.

That being said....Great team and fun to watch. You can tell this team has worked hard to get better. Wilson free throw shooting is a good looking stroke...I think it is just hard for big guys to put up a soft free throw from the angle they are shooting from.

Tot does not have the ball handling skills to play point. It shows when he attempts to drive to basket..which is also why he does not do it to often. Just my personal opinion, dribbles to high. Easy for the D.

Exactly, every game is in a world of its own. We've been down this road so many times and not just in the Kerns era. It is really hard to to get too confident from game to game. I don't expect us to shoot the threes every game like we did last night, or be as proficient from the foul line. One thing this team doesn't lack is effort.

This squad has a penchant for playing up/down to the competition. USM struggling of late could be a bad omen for App.

I truly hope I’m wrong here.
I am delighted this post did not age well.

The team is largely healthy and building chemistry as the season goes on. Hats off to DK and the staff as well.

The defense continues to improve and the FT shooting was good last game.

I agree we could really use one more to turn to on the bench but not sure that’ll happen.
