Louisiana and ODU won the first round games. Louisiana will face a surging JMU team at 6 tonight and ODU will play an unpredictable Stink team at 8:30. I'm not pulling for JMU or Stink, but they'd probably give the next few opponents a tougher game.

JMU smoked Louisiana. ODU and Stink in a battle 5 minutes into the 2nd half.

Stink up 3 with little over 2 mins left.

Stink should win. But ODU keeps hitting 3s at the end.

Stink advances to play Arky State, JMU to play Southern Miss. This is where I start paying attention as these games start to matter. Tournament bracket has at least done as intended so far and eliminated the bottom 4 teams. Winner of Stink/Arky State gets S Alabama and winner of JMU/S Miss gets Tx St. I'm taking Arky State and JMU to advance.

I'm not hoping it happens, but I wouldn't be surprised if we see them in the quarters.

I thought JMU owned the SBC

So far, the tournament is chalk.

GS erased the chalk by bouncing Arkansas State.

I thought JMU and Arky St were "hot" teams to be worried about coming into the tournament. That SBC tournament, you never know what you're going to get

Someone posted on another thread about all 3 analysts at one site picking Arky St to win the tournament. LOL. Especially odd since they'd have to win 4 straight.

S. Miss vs Texas St at 6, Stink vs S. Al at 8:30. Think Texas St handles S. Miss easily and the Stink's run end with S. Al. But Weeks for S. Miss is on fire right now and Stink has been playing better since we swept them (just wanted a chance to put that in there).

I think S.Miss will give TXST all they want. I think they match up pretty well. Also if Moore stays hot from GASO and they can continue to hit three's, they shot 40% last night, they may beat SOAL. GASO can play decent defense and SOAL is pronged to go into drought mode, GASO can move on in the tourney. It is a pretty fun tournament to watch.

Big question for me is do the extra days of rest help our boys because of lack of depth or do we come out cold from the time off. We shall see.

Belmont, after going like 25-4, loses their first tournament game in the OVC. This is why our bracket is the way it is.
