We get either UL or Coastal tomorrow. Could be a short stay. A loss would give us six of our last 8 in the loss column.
That won’t get an extension done, that’s for sure.

This would be the second straight year of a total and complete meltdown at the end of the year.

This is not a meltdown. LaLa is really good.. TxSt is rpi under 50. Lost our best offensive player in last series and did not play today. Tank out, DuPont hurting ( think this is why Soul relieved him)... Team was competitive today.

Losing 8 of the last 12, including 4 straight would not be a meltdown?

To be fair, we had won 17 of 23 or something like that.

So essentially, we just came back down to Earth at the wrong time.

Did anyone really believe we have the arm to be competitive in a tournament scenario.

Still a chance to make noise tomorrow, but stepping back 30 wins looked like a tall task before the season.

We finished 3rd in the 5th best conference in the nation and probably had 6-7th place talent.

I don’t know how you watch a team in any sport at any level set a program record for wins in its conference and be left unsure as to whether or not the season was a success.

Too many missed opportunities today. We were in it until the last batter but couldn’t close the deal. I thought we pitched well enough to win but just couldn’t get the clutch hit when we had guys in scoring position, like the bases loaded. Disappointing but not surprising.

All the more reason to go after the ALB if we know we don’t have arms to complete a SBC tourney champ.
For the decision makers- I don’t think it’s about what we did in conference.
It seems to be about what we didn’t do out of conference.

3rd place is awesome in the SBC. But if 3rd place in the 5th best conference doesn’t net you a tourney appearance, what does it do?

Good season for sure in my book- especially after how we started, and it’s still going on. But how many times has the 3rd SBC team been left out of the tourney lately and not even mentioned as a tourney team. Probably not often.

I want Coastal. Let’s knock out the best team with our great arm and then roll the dice on the rest! We can beat them this go round.

That's comical.. we split our last 4 series. Two wins, two losses, including a sweep of Stink.
The other "loss" was to Wake Forest .. 18th in RPI..
Nice try to label it a meltdown...

LaLa up 10-7 over. Beach Chickens in 7th.
Under rain delay. If LaLa holds on, that will be winning 3 of 4 against Beach Chickens, a top 25 team. They are playing well.

When a coach refuses to pursue at-large bids, I’m not going to make excuses for losing in the conference tournament as a higher seed.

Kermit believes the path to postseason play is through the tournament. He’s made that abundantly clear through scheduling. I expect to not lose the first game as a 3 seed if that is your desire.

Ten years . Perhaps time to reevaluate strategy.

He won’t have much leverage at the negotiation table with another loss.

Having watched this team closely down the stretch I’m convinced La is best team in the conference at this time.

We've scheduled both ways under Kermit. The much harder schedules were killing us early on in his tenure while he was still rebuilding. Maybe he'll adjust a bit going forward to add a good OOC series. Pollard also scheduled much lighter most years save the 2012 season with LSU.

Perhaps that is why 311 feels the way he does. He was on that team that went to LSU and took the series win, probably the biggest series win in our history at the time. That served as a spring board for the season that was extremely successful. It is hard to argue with his logic, especially when we lose against the lower teams that we schedule. If we lose to a top team, it doesn't really hurt us, in fact it can improve or RPI but when we lose to lower teams then it just kills our RPI and keeps us from getting an at large.
