Feel like we really needs some DL guys still. A whole lot entered the portal and it doesn't seem like we have come close to replacing the numbers. I don't care how great our new LBs and DBs are, without any DL pressure they will get picked apart and look sub par. We need some DL help in a big way.

I agree with the importance of the DL, but only expect to add 2 more and likely DT’s. Hopefully between the 5 returning and 9 incoming, we have some difference makers already that we don’t know about.

Some positive news - Received confirmation that Poindexter is returning for 2026. He was the week 1 starting RT & received a medical redshirt for missing the remaining games.

That is 3 returning starters confirmed on the OL with Sweatt, Trent Ramsey and Poindexter. I’m not sure on the injury front if Ramsey will do much in the spring.

Is anyone else extremely curious why Taron Dickens (WCU QB) has not committed anywhere?

If someone with his stats and records ain't getting any bites until teams get desperate, that signifies some red flags.

Wasn’t he suspended for the first 3 games? Wonder what that was for?

Appears T-Dog may be correct. He was suspended for an academic violation but a few people (on WCU’s message board, so not confirmed) said it was only the tip of the iceberg. It may actually be a question of whether he has the grades or academic progression to transfer.

I think numbers-wise, we aren’t far off from the tally on last year’s roster. I am surprised that we haven’t signed a player classified as “edge” in the portal yet.

One thing to consider, is that the staff could view some incoming freshman as better than what we can afford to pay in the portal. Most of the signees will be here for spring ball so it is possible to still add players after spring if they have already entered the portal.

So you think guys that have been in the portal for months could help us out?

Very possible. This is a new time with the new single window, so there’s no way to predict what will happen. Will players wait it out too long? Maybe try to gain financial leverage after spring ball? Maybe players who couldn’t finish their education until May? There will be thousands still in the portal.

Taron Dickens threw for 3500 yds and 38 tds with 2 ints. He also had a 74% completion rate. His problem is he’s 5’11 and 185. He was visiting Syracuse with two other QBs and they chose Kennesaw St qb who’s 6’4 205…. but his numbers were more pedestrian. He may have to go G6/FCS for another season. If I’m him, I’m playing this out for awhile…. really talented kid.
