Yeah, I think he threw 39. Thought they might give him to 50. He did look good.

I feel we have the bats for a solid year. Freebies via pitching have got to get better.

Fought til the end. That type of game will help us with experience on how to deal with horrible zones. We battled, had chances!

I’m amazed at the number of hit by pitch at this level. I get guys are throwing harder and trying to get inside but dang

We’re usually top 10 in HBP at the plate. Crowd it and make em beat you. That zone last night and both teams crowding the plate might be an outlier of why so many HBP on both sides.Bigdaddyg1 wrote: ↑Wed Feb 18, 2026 7:49 amI’m amazed at the number of hit by pitch at this level. Those HBP numbers should drop as rotation settles in and teams aren’t throwing 8 guys a game.
I agree though. If you can throw strikes in high school, why can’t you in college? Plate is same size, zone is same size. Balls are the same. Mound is the same. Distance is the same.

Agree. My two youngest played all the way thru high school and there were more HBP last night than I saw their team have in a season.311neers wrote: ↑Wed Feb 18, 2026 9:10 amWe’re usually top 10 in HBP at the plate. Re: 2026 Baseball Mega Thread
There’s a noticeable difference between the way college and professional players deal with inside pitches. College players are taught to let the pitch hit them. Pro players will avoid getting hit whenever possible. I’m guessing the risk of injury is a factor. I guess, too, there’s a pain difference between 91 MPH in college and 96 MPH in the pros.
