Re: Sunbelt basketball standings
I think Vasser, Banks, Wilson, Marcus Jr, and Moodie (among others) all have eligibility left which would be a great core if we can retain most of them. Tot and Jennings are graduates. I'm not sure about Dodd... He's a senior and has played 4 seasons. Kerns usually finds 1-2 guys in the portal each year that are starter quality so I have faith as long as we don't lose nearly everybody.

Re: Sunbelt basketball standings
We lost our top 4 scorers and 5 of our top 6 last off season. Dodd was the only one that returned that had over 3 ppg and he had 5.8 ppg.
Pretty impressive what Kerns has done this year, and shows that he can reload quickly.

Dodd’s improvement over last season to this has been amazing. He’s still not a great long-range shooter and he will always lead the team in turnovers but our offense stagnates when he’s on the bench and he’s great at getting to the foul line late in the game. He and Jennings are my co-MVPs.

Re: Sunbelt basketball standings
Totally agree about Dodd. He does hit some shots from behind the arc that are opened up by his ability to penetrate. My concern is that he has improved and increased his value enough that he may leave for money (if he has any eligibility left).AppGrad78 wrote: ↑Tue Feb 17, 2026 11:31 amDodd’s improvement over last season to this has been amazing. Someone on here should know if he does or not.

Re: Sunbelt basketball standings
Regardless of how we finish, the only one I am truly worried about losing is Wilson. Slightly undersized by P4 standards but he has a tenacity that is hard to find. While getting a bag like Abson is lucrative, hope he stays to be THE guy.
Correct me if I am wrong, but I believe we have no 2026 commits as of now. With a good, younger returning core, I’d assume Kerns will fill out the rest of the roster with more experienced, leadership guys. Look forward to seeing McKinnon and Vasser.

Re: Sunbelt basketball standings
He looks for his shot more this year. Last year he looked very tentative to shoot. This year he is much more assertive. The turnaround in his game has been impressive.AppGrad78 wrote: ↑Tue Feb 17, 2026 11:31 amDodd’s improvement over last season to this has been amazing. Re: Sunbelt basketball standings
Good question, I would assume USA since we already have the tie breaker over them but haven't played Texas State yet.

Re: Sunbelt basketball standings
What an awesome season in the belt. 7 teams with 18 or more wins. It's too bad we have no shot at getting a conference at large bid, along with our auto bid.

Re: Sunbelt basketball standings
Which team had the best win of the season?
App over highpoint may be our highest net win.
If you were the committee and could pick the Sunbelt team....who would it be?? Which sunbelt team has the best resume.

Troy beating San Diego State was huge. They are first in the mountain west and regularly make the tourney.spacemonkey wrote: ↑Thu Feb 26, 2026 6:48 pmWhich team had the best win of the season?

Its hard to tell who is truly the best team. No one completely stands out.

Re: Sunbelt basketball standings
From the bracketologists standpoint, it's not us. Both CBS and ESPN had us as a 16 seed. Now that Marshall is CBS' Belt rep, they are a 15 seed.
