Give up the winning run in the 8th or 9th in all 3 games.
So many little things have killed the team this season.

3 blown leads to GW.
2 blown leads to Coastal.
Probably 1 or 2 more in there.
Close, but at some point, it’s a pattern.

Tie game with Wake going into the 9th.
Blew an 8-2 lead versus SIU after 6 but won in the bottom 9th.

Re: 2026 Baseball Mega Thread
Get this man some help!!
Just days after being named to the National Pitcher of the Year Watch List, Gage Peterson made sure to silence any doubters that were left.
In a masterful performance against #16 Coastal Carolina, Peterson tossed seven shutout innings, allowing just two hits and two walks, while striking out nine Chanticleers on Saturday afternoon in Boone.
Peterson has not allowed an earned run in his last 14 innings of work, while piling up 21 strikeouts during that stretch. He currently boasts an ERA of just 1.24 in 29.0 innings of work this spring.

Re: 2026 Baseball Mega Thread
Seems that we just need a legit shut down closer. How many games have we lost going into the 8th with a lead? That should rarely happen.

Arkansas State is ranked in the top 25.
With some of worst facilities (currently) in the SBC.

Re: 2026 Baseball Mega Thread
Its somewhat not having a closer but also on the coaches for not finding a closer the first 15 games of the year.
Find your go to guys early on, not now, when it matters.
Might be worth sliding DiRito back to Closer and Tibbett to a Sunday starter.
It’s good we have some depth, but also gives us too many options. Puzzling we throw a guy vs Wake and Coastal late that hasn’t pitched in 2 years. We doubled down on it too.

Re: 2026 Baseball Mega Thread
Coaching is the key for sure, you better know who your guys are before the season starts. Injuries are one thing, but no excuse for not having the right guys in the right places to start the season. And we clearly do not have the right guy(s) closing out our games.311neers wrote: ↑Mon Mar 16, 2026 9:41 amIts somewhat not having a closer but also on the coaches for not finding a closer the first 15 games of the year.

They were unable to practice outside for an extended period of time preseason. Found a way.

Re: 2026 Baseball Mega Thread
High Point game cancelled tomorrow.
Postponing until Wednesday?
We’re @ODU for the weekend so doable logistically.
High Point is home Friday.
Really hope we didn’t tuck tail if Wednesday was offered.

Re: 2026 Baseball Mega Thread
Looks like it’s canceled. The HPU page says that this time no make up date is scheduled.
Might be a good thing. Been a rough couple weeks mentally for them. A mini break might be good.
ODU isn't that good. Could be a get right series

It's only going to be around 40-44 degrees for the highs here the next couple of days. The princesses at HPU can't be out in this weather.
