Re: 2026 Baseball Mega Thread
They did what they had to do and got the series win. It wasn’t pretty at times and I think that’s just the way it’s going to be. The Sun Belt is very top-heavy but I do believe the rest of the seeds (4-8) are very similar to each other and up for grabs

Going to Southern Miss next weekend will be a chore. They've struggled some in Sun Belt play, but they're loaded and have knocked off both in-state SEC rivals.

Re: 2026 Baseball Mega Thread
We’re hitting it well for singles doubles and walks. Missing some pop bigtime though.
Biggest difference between this year are the HR totals.
Pitching overall might be a point better with more guys to go to, but missing a back end shutdown guy.
Defense played better this weekend but lacking behind years past.
We just need to maintain until DuPont and Miller get back to provide some OPS.

South Miss is pretty good. Beat them and we turn it around in a hurry.

Getting picked off both times you get on first in the first four innings arguably should be a benching.

Has the defensive shift worked once tonight? Southern Miss always hits it in the right spot.

Re: 2026 Baseball Mega Thread
Kind of obvious Wilson lost control this inning, why did we wait for them to score and load the bases with no outs? And T-Dog is right, stupid shift!

Re: 2026 Baseball Mega Thread
It's not that bad, since Southern Miss is ranked this is our best loss of the season.

Re: 2026 Baseball Mega Thread
The absolute worst part of this season so far is that it is clear (at least to me) that we have the talent and ability (despite the location, cold, and all other historical excuses) to compete with very good teams but we find ways to lose. Our loses are not talent based, they are mistake based and that is hard to swallow. Our guys show us that they can play for the most part, we just fall apart for an inning or two and it costs us games. To me, that is coaching. Sure, the coaches aren't making the errors, or walks or hit batsman, etc, but to continually find new (or repeated) ways to lose is coaching to me. The guys play well enough for 7 innings to win, don't tell me that they don't have the talent to win two more innings, our coaches just aren't getting it out of them for whatever reason.
