At this point, the umpires aren't even hiding their desire to go home.
Our bats aren’t hiding it either.

Good for Stanford to get a clean inning and a shot at another. Throws hard!

None of our game, other than Charlie's defense, is hiding it.

We could have won Friday. I can’t say should have but it was right there. Today we just got beat. Missed series opportunity.

Yea gave game away with 7 free bases(4 bb 3 hbp) and USM 5 xtra basehits (3 doubles and 2 hr)….. and we had one double. They had much better pitching yesterday. On the good side, we made the routine plays defensively with no errors. Also appears we are getting some of our missing pieces back so that’s good. Thought we had some poor baserunning during the series. Self-inflicted wounds. Also played some of the best teams in the conference so schedule should be a plus.

We have two really good starting pitchers for Friday and Saturday night. Hopefully we do not have to have them pitch 100+ pitches much more during regular season.

Short turnaround this week with Easter. 4 games in 5 nights.

I guess I spoke too soon about the schedule… thanks 94. It looks like Marshall is a good hitting team but bad pitching team (almost 7 era) two runs worse than ours so that should be in our favor. We’ll need good starts from starters…. due to all innings pitched by relievers this past weekend.

I dare us to let a reliever that gets 3 outs in 9 pitches to continue to pitch the next inning.

Please excuse my ignorance, could someone help me with this phenomena: In a nutshell I've never seen such a "Hyde/Jekylle" team in a long tine. This past weekend they played the #11 ranked team fairly competitively. Then at the same time get swept by Gardner Webb, get embarrassed by west carolina, and lose to High Point. Head scratching.

In my opinion, we have talent but it’s not a talent that is mentally consistent. It’s a bit easier to get locked in against better teams and stay locked in, which generates better effort.

Beginning of conference play was front loaded - Nice thing is it's out of the way. APP should win their share of series coming up. SBC looks about equal other than the top 3-4. So far they seem to play to the level of competition (minus the WCU game). They can only afford a few more hiccups.

Marshall is probably one of the better teams in the conference. The Herd gave Coastal two extremely competitive games, albeit in a three-game sweep. Our schedule certainly gets easier now that Coastal and Southern Miss are behind us, but we’ll need to play our best to work our way toward the upper half of the conference.

MU has struggled historically but came on last year. We have many of the same challenges. Should be a good gauge of where the programs stand.

Cold weather school.
Far north.
Not much talent around to pull from
Didnt have a home field for a couple years.

They are trying to overcome the excuses as well.

It's amazing what investing in legit facilities can do for a program. Same with Arkansas State's recent and ongoing improvements.

We have a legit field and surroundings. Probably need some box suites just to provide another option.
And will have a new indoor football facility for use by fall ball (not dedicated to baseball but baseball might honestly use it more than anyone)
And probably have a top 3 weight room in the SBC (not dedicated to baseball)

We do need a better locker room/clubhouse setup and a bigger dedicated "on-site" indoor at Jim and Beattie smith.

Most of what have on your punch list is actually in the works for baseball specific needs.

Bumped his salary from 180,000 to 300,000. Assistant coaches pool to $350,000 + renovations and upgrades. Also gonna add full 34 scholarships in 2 years. (I think they just broke ground at the end of October)

AND his buyout money gets cut in half each year if:

#1: The indoor baseball practice facility is not completed by August 15, 2026, unless the delay is caused by factors reasonably outside the University’s control.

#2: Significant stadium renovations, which include expanded seating, have not commenced before August 15, 2027, unless the delay is caused by factors reasonably outside the University’s control."

He has one hell of an agent

That is excellent news.
The field from a players perspective has come a long way. The new turf was crucial for us. We didn't even have a batters eye 4-5 years ago. We were just trying to hit a brown/white ball with brown limbs behind the pitcher that blended in with the ball. Bullpens were improved. Dugouts improved. Indoor facility was improved. New scoreboard to double check the outs before a pitch...ha!
We still need some enhancements to help give our guys a better chance to perform but Kermit did a hell of a job getting us where we are.

From a fan perspective, it's pretty great too. Different viewpoints from outfield seating, right field line, terrace seating and obv. behind home. Just need to improve the concourse and add a money making box suite or 4.

We've come a long way, but still have a long way to go. That's what excites me for the future of App baseball. It was only 14 years ago where we were 2 games from Omaha and had 2 training tables for 35 guys, 2 toilets, no batters eye, players would have to go chase foul balls because we couldn't afford new ones......players had to plow the field for snow for practice.... etc.

Onward and upward APPS!
