There are some “hits” out there that should be errors. I bet we’re closer to .925 as a team.

While both bad- FTs are just you and the basket-nothing else involved.

Fielding a grounder, while easier on turf, is still difficult. Spin, hops or skip, velocity, baserunner involved, elements (wet, dry, wind). We still should be making the routine plays though. We were so spoiled as we had a legit 3-5 year stretch of excellent defense. This year is bad, but it looks a lot worse due to how good we’ve been in the field in years past. Very uncharacteristic of the Apps.

I spoke with someone close to the program that essentially has made every game, and they thought we should be at +-20 wins if not for some downright bad errors.

20 wins at this point would have us tracking for a dang solid year. Self inflicted wounds. Still time to reverse the trend but it’s getting late.

Let’s take 2 of 3 this weekend. 1-0 as Kermit would say.

IIRC, poor fielding was also a chronic issue last year.
