Rain made it tough in the last inning, but we survived 2 errors and rain that inning

I sort of agree. My problem would be that once we get to the tournament, Nolan would be going game 1.311neers wrote: ↑Sat Apr 04, 2026 1:12 pmMakes sense this weekend to keep them on schedule but if you throw DiRito Sat and Peterson Sunday on paper they’re better than any matchup.
We’ve done it before where we throw our best Sat/Sunday against others weaker arms to increase our chance of winning 2.
Risk Friday to Win Sat/Sunday.

Re: 2026 Baseball Mega Thread
How good has Charlie Evans been?
I knew last year was a fluke. He had 2 broken fingers in his top hitting hand which essentially means one handed hitting.
By the way- he leads the nation in defensive runs saved in the outfielder.
In other words- the best CF in the nation.
Tip the cap. He might not be Banks Tolley at the plate but he’s come on strong with DuPont and Soul essentially nonexistent.
Getting ahead of myself- but did he medical RS last year? Would be great if he did and had another year.

Re: 2026 Baseball Mega Thread
I still think you could potentially switch it back right before the tourney depending on how many days rest. Peterson and DiRito don’t look like they need a full 6 days rest. Maybe 4-5 will do. You could potentially start spot Tibbett in a bind too if the rest days don’t align.BUTCH1991 wrote: ↑Sat Apr 04, 2026 1:30 pmI sort of agree. Re: 2026 Baseball Mega Thread
Averaged +-700 this weekend vs a decent team- maybe a rival.
But-Easter Break and students are off campus for the most part. Not bad.
I expect next weekend to be a big one, especially if we beat UNCA midweek.
Both Basketball and Baseball are yearning for student attendance. It’s getting better as we keep building those programs within the SBC.

I'm just glad they're finally recognizing what Charlie can do. Love watching him play

Re: 2026 Baseball Mega Thread
I think they knew it, but had to try Soul w his pedigree and since Luft had a decent year last year they had to roll with him too.
But Charlie shouldn’t sit the rest of the year. He does everything well. Can hit with no one on, can get on base, bunt, singles, speed.
And the defense is something we’ve never seen before. Not sure if everyone saw but he has saved 9 runs this year…

Dowell take notes.
Do we still have the Athletes supporting Athletes mandates? We used to have to attend other teams sporting events to show support. Goodwill would come back around and you got to know other student athletes easier and have a camaraderie with your team.
Maybe this was just something our coach made us do, I’m not certain.

Re: 2026 Baseball Mega Thread
ULM leads the Sun Belt in offense. They beat Mississippi Valley state 9-4 tonight. They did win a series at Louisiana but them lost a home series to Georgia State last weekend.
A couple of these games could be first team to 10 gets the win.

He's a gamer. Competitive and battles.
We've got a bunch of hitters. Not much power but they all know how to get on base.
Our OBP is always near the top in country.
Just keep winning 2 of every 3 and we could make a run.
I'm confident in DiRito, Gage and Tibbett as starters. If we had Marks healthy we could be real real dangerous in a tourney setting.
Team ERA sitting at 5.40!!! We traded fielding for decent pitching though this year.

Re: 2026 Baseball Mega Thread
It's the little things. Kid runs hard off the bat on base hit. One of the doubles last night would not have been a double for many hitters. That sets a tone.311neers wrote: ↑Wed Apr 08, 2026 7:53 amHe's a gamer. Competitive and battles.

Re: 2026 Baseball Mega Thread
A win is a win but it was Asheville. ULM has cooled off but it will take good play across the board to win the series, perhaps the elusive Sunbelt sweep ?
