Re: 2026 Baseball Mega Thread
Let's try to separate ourselves for the better this weekend
Entering this weekend, the league standings are a complete logjam with third through 14th place separated by just three games.

Re: 2026 Baseball Mega Thread
I had forgotten about that.
Kinda wild that in a conference that might send 3-5 teams to NCAA's that the SBC conference only takes 10.
IMO all 14 should be invited. Or at least top 12.

Re: 2026 Baseball Mega Thread
Pulled the below from 247 about the ULM arms...
On the hill, righthanded Friday starter Adam Brodnax is a 1-0 freshman in three league starts (6.89 ERA, .323 against, 2.8 K ratio) who averages five innings per start, best among the rotation. Lefty Brandt Corley is 1-0 in Sun Belt play (6.62 ERA, .342 against, 9 BB in 17.2 IN) with a pair of five inning starts. Senior transfer JC Dermody is another southpaw who sits 1-3 in league (10.19 ERA, .351 against, 9 of 20 H for XB), who did post seven innings in an earlier win over Texas State. Righthander Holden Hess (4.85 ERA, .213 against) is the primary reliever, often pitching twice in the same weekend but generally for two innings or less each time. Big Tyler Roark and Cash Dabbs, both freshmen, are also potential multi-game options, who each typically man 2-3 innings each. There are a handful of likely additional relievers, but it's a tight pitching rotation which has gotten slimmer in conference play.
Hitters are salivating. Might see some football scores this weekend, hopefully in our favor.

Re: 2026 Baseball Mega Thread
I've heard good things this year about the new pitching coach. Calls a great game.
Hopefully we can hang onto him but the pitching staff is apparently under his control.
I believe Kermit had a say earlier on but the torch has been passed.

Same. I don’t know the game like others , just the basics but my baseball friends are high on the guy.

Re: 2026 Baseball Mega Thread
I’d say almost every returner from last year has improved on the mound. Exception is Barrazino but I believe he had been hurt/flu for a little.
A good turnaround for the arms this year.
Let’s keep it rolling.

Didn’t last long for an error. 2nd pitch.
Could have been a 5 pitch inning.

Re: 2026 Baseball Mega Thread
I'm a big fan of situational bunting, but never have I loved bunting with two on and no outs unless the hitter at the plate is in a major slump. No need to give up the out when a deep fly ball out still moves the runner, but could also find a gap and crack the inning open. That said, kid in the 8th did lay down a beauty.

I’m fine with it if it’s a close game. Or a big double play threat.AppDub wrote: ↑Fri Apr 10, 2026 7:46 pmI'm a big fan of situational bunting, but never have I loved bunting with two on and no outs unless the hitter at the plate is in a major slump. We are 3rd in the nation in sac flies too.
We also are pretty good bunting for a hit so sometimes you Sac and get a hit out of it.

Re: 2026 Baseball Mega Thread
We have more sac bunts this year already than we did last year.
11 sac bunts last year.
At 13 today. 20 games left.

We rake.
And this is without DuPont.
We can’t even get Seaward in the lineup that’s how good it is. Or Xuereb.
