Oh well. Fought hard, but there's bigger fish to fry.

Strange that it was the last non-conference game with 9 Sun Belt games to go, but between exams and the short last week, fine by me.
Should be playing one more midweek.
Everyone else does it. We’re always 2-3 games played shy of everyone else.
Oh well.
We're about the only team that never plays a Tuesday & Wednesday midweek game. See lots of teams do it multiple times in the season. Granted, we don't have the pitching depth for it.

You’d also think we’d fill the schedule in the good weather months knowing we will have some cancelled due to rain/snow/cold/fog early on. Can’t win if you don’t schedule em.

Just looked it up. Teams are allowed a maximum of 56 games in the regular season. We had 53 scheduled, but the HPU game was cancelled, so we'll finish with 52.

I do too. But, I am glad they will schedule us home/away/nuetral.
Wish we would mix in a State/UNC series here and there.

My preference would be to play our non-conference weekend road series against ACC and SEC squads.Get paid , gain exposure and compete at a higher level. If we lose atleast it isn't Queens or Gardner WEBB.

I wonder what the RPI would be if we go 1-5 vs P4 teams in the first two weekends versus being 5-1 versus soup cans in Hickory?

Troy is 60 and Lala is 51. After we sweep them could we get up to at least 60?

We have a major scheduling problem.
Losing to Queens and Gwebb ruin the at large chance.
Losing to NC State does not.

We were 40th in RPI...and then we got swept by GWebb and fell to 181.

Citadel is 22-22 and went 2-8 vs P4 (beat the Cocks twice). = RPI of 66. They also play 2 vs Coastal and C of C.
Really tough schedules can increase your RPI positioning.

Personally, I would rather play Power schools and good non power (Campbell, EasyU, UNCW) versus a traditionally "not so great" team below Power school level. First couple of weekends maybe play some lesser known schools to get live game action.
The rpi can play itself out. I would rather play good schools ... And maybe we win... And maybe it helps out a little bit with recruiting.

I don't know if we need three weekend series vs ACC/SEC programs, but one (maybe two) against P4's plus the typical midweek games we play should be enough given the SBC's high ranking. I'm fine with an easier series or two to open given how unpredictable our winters can be. We did have some late changes to our schedule this year that were out of our control.

I would love for the starters to eat up some innings today. I’m not an expert but I stayed at a Holiday Inn last night, but I’d consider starting Peterson in Game 1 since he is shown consistent ability to pitch deep into games and can pitch out of trouble.

I know nothing about Troy pitching. But, for App. St. It would be help if we had MLB Double Header rules and each game was 7 innings.
I assume it's 9 in college.
