I assume you mean ODU rather than ULM since ODU is one of three teams that could tie us if they sweep and we get swept, right? I'm not sure what the tie breaker would be against Texas State.T-Dog wrote: ↑Sun May 10, 2026 6:03 pmGood news is that USA lost, so we remain in third.
More important, the right combo of wins and losses happened today so App State is all-but locked into the Top Six and avoids the play-in round (tiebreaker versus Marshall and ULM).
Now to get the bats right in whatever suburb of Atlanta GSU plays in. This is their last series at that field before moving to their new stadium at the old Fulton County Stadium site next season.

Re: 2026 Baseball Mega Thread
Looks like Texas State has the tiebreaker over us since they beat Coastal once and we didn't. If we end up tied with Texas State and other teams, it gets messy because the tiebreaker comes down to record vs the group. Hopefully none of this matters since we won't get swept by Georgia State

Re: 2026 Baseball Mega Thread
Just need to take care of business this weekend. Hopefully, with no midweek game, we can get rested and be ready to go.
It is a series we should win. Just need to make it so.
Crazy that USM may catch Beach Chickens. USM should sweep Stink.

Short week this week. Games start Thursday. Curious to see how Kermit manages the staff.

Win one game and lock up a top 6 seed and first round bye. Win two games and lock up a top 4 seed which put you in the home half for game one.

Win game 1 and let the equipment manager and the bus driver start games 2 and 3. Rest up to go win the conference tourney.

Kermit likes to keep Dirito and Gage on Friday and Saturday as he did so Easter week, but the conference tournament isn't a regular schedule and they'll likely pitch Wednesday and Thursday in Montgomery.
Think it would be beneficial to have them go Thursday and Friday this week so they have five days of rest two weeks in a row.

Re: 2026 Baseball Mega Thread
Agree that they likely go, as too much rest isn’t good. I’m curious how long the leash is. Dirito probably gets the longer leash to get the first win. Does a win on Thursday put Peterson and Nolan on pitch counts? Personally, I would like to see coach try another option (if there is one) for Day 3 starter..AppSt94 wrote: ↑Mon May 11, 2026 11:17 amAgree that they likely go, as too much rest isn’t good. Re: 2026 Baseball Mega Thread
I always thought Tibbett could have become that 3rd or midweek starter. Has the size and build to go. He's been victimized the most by the defense-28 innings- 29 Runs...21 earned. That's a crazy amount of unearned runs. To put it in perspective- Gage has 8 unearned, but in 75 innings.BambooRdApp wrote: ↑Mon May 11, 2026 12:25 pmPersonally, I would like to see coach try another option (if there is one) for Day 3 starter..AppSt94 wrote: ↑Mon May 11, 2026 11:17 amAgree that they likely go, as too much rest isn’t good. Re: 2026 Baseball Mega Thread
Most of Nolan’s troubles were a result of his own poor defense. Gave up five runs on five hits with two walks in 1-plus innings on Sunday. During that stint he was late covering first on a ball hit to first and he showed little urgency (as well as momentary bobbles) on two bunts hit to him. All three plays likely should have been outs with ordinary defensive efforts.

Just saw where Banks Tolley got his degree at App.
Good for him. That says a lot about our University and program that even after playing, guys want to come back and get their degree.

Re: 2026 Baseball Mega Thread
Throw Strikes.. and show a sense of urgency in covering bunts.. you may not get the hook so soon.
This does hurt to some degree. Could have been used in relief.. especially a lefty
