I suppose we could have gone undefeated or lost every game.

It is sad/bad/something when D1Baseball.com projects the #1, #2 & #7 seeds in the Sun Belt to make the tournament and the #4, #5, & #6 seeds are all 3 listed in the 1st 4 out of the tournament. What about #3? Granted, I don't think we deserve consideration for an at large, it just looks weird.
Scheduling. And losing 3 to a 225th ranked RPI team. That’s the only difference really.

Again , had we instead scheduled top competition and lost all of them , we would be in the conversation.

This is kind of the "chicken/egg" argument. We don't want to schedule low because it hurts our RPI...no one wants to schedule us because it hurts their RPI.

UNC started off with Le Moyne. Could have been us.

We aren't that bad. The worst Sun Belt team (Southern) with 40 losses still has a top 200 RPI.
Our RPI will always be "decent" because of the SBC propping us up a little.

I don't buy that teams are "afraid" to schedule us for low RPI or fear of losing derailing their season.

Agreed. Feels like we just need to be more aggressive in our pursuit of some of these matchups. Got to get to these local schools before the other cold weather schools get to them first.

Been in this conference for 12 years or so and they still can't pronounce our name during Sun Belt coverage. Seriously? How lazy can a commentator be if they can't pronounce Appalachian by now? Infuriating

I mentioned it earlier in this thread, but do we have the $$$ to stay multiple nights out-of-town for a marquee weekend series? With weather, we know the odds of such series being in Boone are slim.

Our OOC scheduling screams of “day trips”.

Yes. Budget is tight but it’s doable. We stayed 3 nights in a hotel in Savannah for practice during winter break. If we can do that, we can stay in a hotel for actual games.
We also stayed in a hotel for Gardner Webb series.

From App. St. Brew. Well Done!!

With four Mountaineers earning All-SBC accolades this year, where does that rank for most honorees in a single season for App State?

Got a guess?
Answer: The most ever as a Sun Belt member

The SBC is so hard that I am not shocked that is a record for us, considering we have never been top 3 in the league. I wonder how many draft picks we will have this year?

For years a few people have popped up on threads for our 3 major sports saying that other schools are afraid to schedule us- mostly in football. While that has always sounded cool what real empirical evidence exists that really supports that? Is there real documentation from AD’s at larger schools available that backs this claim up? Again, it’s fun to suggest this, mostly years ago when football was really good but are we really getting hard no’s from AD’s for baseball? Does anyone here really know how the scheduling process works?

Still bummed that Tolley didn't get POY when he so deserved it!

Is there a 3rd team all conference or Honorable Mention? Surprised Puig/DuPont didnt get any looks.
Or Tramontona/DiRito.

I’m sure that DuPont would have gotten some recognition if he hadn’t missed time. He has a sweet swing.

Texas State with an RPI of 42. Woah- that’s good.

Let’s finish them!
